ACADEMIC LEADER
- Directed the UW-Madison Cancer Biology Training Program (PhD and Post-doctoral).
- Oversaw all recruiting, program management, budgeting and personnel issues.
- Led the transition of the program from being housed in a single department to being a multi-department graduate program housed in the UWCCC.
- Recognized for revamping the recruiting and admissions reforms that significantly increased admissions of qualified students.
- Developed and taught several undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars in developmental immunology, cancer immunology, cancer genetics and biology, and in research ethics and bioethics.
- Mentored >30 students and post-doctoral fellows in laboratory research and served on dozens of other doctoral advisory committees.
- Chaired the UW Biological Sciences Curriculum Committee.
- Oversight for the university-wide biological sciences curriculum.
- Initiated and led the development of a campus-wide web-based platform listing information for all UW biological science courses. This involved developing partnerships between the Center for Biology Education, UW Publications and the Registrar's Office. This now serves as a template for the development of a similar platform for all courses at the UW-Madison.
